Best Small Ferry and Best Lobster Boat awards to Dongara Marine and Southerly Designs
International maritime publishing company Baird Maritime has awarded Dongara Marine two awards for our boatbuilding achievements for the second year in a row.
Two of the vessels we delivered in 2019 (Poppa G and Jetwave Stanley Point) were awarded 'Ausmarine Best of 2019 Awards' last year (read more here) and now Baird Maritime has adjudged Force of Nature as the Best Lobster Boat and MV Tricia as the Best Small Ferry for 2020.
Announcing Force of Nature as the Best Lobster Boat, Baird Maritime said:
"An elegant, efficient, yacht-like and very safe fishing boat from the globally renowned partnership of Southerly Designs and Dongara Marine, Force of Nature is a typical example of their creations. Essentially, the same hull can be used for a number of roles including lobster, pilot and patrol boats and, perhaps, even a yacht."

When MV Tricia was announced as the Best Small Ferry, Baird Maritime described the new catamaran thus:
"A very efficient, low-wash, sheltered waters ferry built for Western Australia’s Public Transport Authority and operated by Captain Cook Cruises, a subsidiary of Australia’s largest ferry owning company, Sealink Travel Group, Tricia is a fine example of the elegant, safe and efficient vessels produced by the Southerly Designs/Dongara Marine combination.
"They rarely produce a catamaran, and not many ferries, but have excelled themselves with this fine addition to the busy TransPerth Swan River fleet. She is a 24-metre catamaran with very impressive passenger capacity."

Everyone at Dongara Marine is very proud to have received these accolades. Thanks to all our staff, Southerly Designs, suppliers and, of course, the vessels' owners and operators for making these projects so successful.
Thanks, also, to Baird Maritime for selecting our projects and its continued coverage of the Australian and international marine industries.
