AMG WINYAMA (18.5m BERKELEY CLASS PILOT VESSEL)
Launched May 2016 (Port Denison, Dongara W.A)
Measured Length :18.5m
Dongara Marine was commissioned to construct and deliver its second Berkeley Class Pilot Launch for the Argonaut Marine Group. The vessel will operate out of the busy port of Dampier from the beginning of August 2016.
Once again the vessel has been completed to our exceptionally high standard. Externally, the paintwork and fittings are to a near superyacht standard and this workmanship has been carried right through the boat.
The helm position has been ergonomically designed to maximise the skippers comfort and vision. Down below polished Copper Nickel pipework has been used throughout the engine room to minimise corrosion and downtime.
The Southerly Design provides a fantastic ride that is very dry. The twin keels provide outstanding stability making for a much safer working platform for the coxswains and Pilots.
Powered by MTU 8V2000M72 engines coupled to Twin Disc transmissions provides a cruise speed of 25kts and WOT of 29kts+.
The vessel was completed in 7 months which has been a very good effort by all involved.
Launched Jan 2016
Measured Length :23.95M
In 2015 Dongara Marine was commissioned to construct a resin infused composite wheelhouse for Daydawn Fisheries. The wheelhouse was built in Dongara whilst Xtreme Marine built the hull in Geraldton at the same time. In October the near finished wheelhouse was transported to Geraldton and fitted to the hull.
Daydawn is the largest cray boat built in Australia. It has a capacity of 5500kg of live rock lobster. It has full live aboard facilities for up to 11 crew. Dongara Marine were charged with all the internal fitout and paint work as well.
The internal and external finish is one of pleasure boat standards allowing the crew to live in exceptional conditions whilst staying on-board at sea.
Once again the boat was completed in the unbelievable time frame of 8 months.
BERKELEY (18.5 BERKELEY CLASS PILOT VESSEL)
Launched May 2015 (Geraldton W.A)
Measured Length :18.5m
The very first Berkeley Class Pilot Launch was built on spec by Director John Fitzhardinge. This was done to break into the Australian Pilot Boat Market with a “Proven Design”. With the combination of a composite wheelhouse and an aluminium hull a brilliant new design was launched.
The removable wheelhouse allows for the engines to be mounted directly below for a much better performing boat. At 19.2m overall it one of the largest pilot vessels produced in Australia. This larger vessel allows for a more comfortable and drier ride making for a much safer working environment for crew and passengers.
The Berkeley is currently working out of the busy Port of Fremantle with over 3000 hours logged in the first 12months. Fremantle skippers have had the boat up to 32kts into 35kts of wind during trials. The Berkeley is able to conduct safe transfers in any weather conditions that the ships can be birthed in the harbour.
Refit & Hull Extension
Launched Nov 1995
Measured Length :19.1M
In late 2015 the Groom family commissioned Dongara Marine to undertake a major refit and extension to their cray boat Windjana. The vessel was cut in half and 2.1m was added forward of the engine room bulkhead. In this 2.1m a 48 basket tank was inserted. This live cray tank doubled the capacity of the vessel from 32 baskets to 68.
At the same time ‘Windjana’ was repainted, repowered and rewired with a new three phase generator being installed. The end result was a boat that was like new condition with considerable savings being made over a new build.
The finished product with the repower and increased waterline is capable cruising speed of 19kts and WOT of 25kts+
Eco Abrolhos (Tender Vessels)
Launched April 2016
In 2016 Dongara Marine were contracted to deliver two 6m custom tenders for the charter vessel Eco Abrolhos. The key element was to have a bow door that allowed customers to safely embark and disembark the vessels when going ashore. This was achieved by working with Southerly Designs to provide a folding bow door with incorporated steps.
These vessels are now operating in the Kimberley.
